Daisy Arendell
Daisy joined JULA in May 2023 as agency assistant. She tends to gravitate towards literary fiction that is female focused, however is open to most genres and loves richly drawn worlds such as Demon Copperhead by Barbra Kingsolver and original genre fiction like Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto. She is always looking for novels that surprise with style and use of language and genre. Some of her favourite authors include Olga Tokarczuk, Deborah Levy, Elizabeth Strout, Elif Batuman, and Eleanor Catton.
In terms of non-fiction, Daisy loves to read memoirs, and personal explorations of historical, scientific or political topics. Recent favourites include Happening by Annie Ernaux, The Forgotten Girls by Monica Potts, A Ghost in the Throat by Doireann Ni Ghriofa and The Barefoot Woman by Scholastique Mukasonga.
Daisy graduated from Queen Mary University of London with a History degree in 2019. She began working in the world of books as a bookseller at both chain and independent bookshops, before joining JULA team.
