Nisha Bailey

I’ve been in love with books ever since my Year 3 teacher Mr Frostick read Roald Dahl’s The Witches to the class. Pretty much the rest of my childhood was spent with my nose in a book. As an adult, I retained my keen interest in books but my career path led me to work in theatre and TV, followed by a few years working as cabin crew before trying to break into the literary industry. I thoroughly enjoy working at JULA as Jo’s personal assistant, where I work on the admin side of things. I’m quite new to the world of publishing and still learning something new every day.

I’m really keen on books that deal with feelings and hardship in a darkly humorous way, including Hangover Square by Patrick Hamilton, and Of Love and Hunger by Julian MacLaren-Ross, historical fiction like The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett, books that deal with subjects seen as taboo such as Period by Emma Barnett and short stories with a twist like Salt Slow by Julia Armfield.
